Everything is Tough When You're a Teen

Something Beautiful

You can erase the mark
But the paper is thinner
And the surface scarred,
No longer smooth as before.
The same with a hurt,
Perhaps a careless word;
And though you apologise,
Something beautiful dies.

-- Hilary Tham (From: Everything is tough when you're a Teen , an interactive book of poems of love, despair and a little sanity in a stress-filled world, 1996)
